Weird Issue after upgrading to Mac OS X Mavericks.

Hi Friends,

I have MacBook Pro. I purchased it last December. I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro OS from Mountain Lion to OS X Mavericks (10.9). I previously used to connect through Virtual Private Connection (VPN) and then using Remote Desktop Connection Client to my office desktop which runs Windows 7 OS without any issues from my MackBook Pro having OS X Mountain Lion. When I recently enough upgraded my MacBook Pro OS from Mountain Lion to OS X Mavericks 10.9 then I am facing a very weird issue that although I am able to connect to my office VPN network without much issues but after that when I connect to my office machine using a Remote Desktop Client then I am able to connect for a maximum of 5 mins. then I am disconnected. This is happening as a regular feature.

It seems to be the OS issue as I was not having trouble when I was running Mountain Lion. As I upgrade to OS X Mavericks then I have started getting issues in connecting to my office system using Remote Desktop.

Please help in resolving this issue as I am not able to connect to my office machine and hence loosing out on work.

Isn't this something you should be discussing with your company's IT department?

There are far too many unknowns for me to be able to help you in any way with this. What is your company's VPN server? How is it configured? Network topology? Firewalls? Remote Desktop server? VPN client on your machine? Remote Desktop client? Configurations of each of these? And many many more...

I'm not asking you to answer any of these questions, I'm just pointing out that any one of these things could affect the stability of your connection and we have no way of knowing which of these it is. Even for you to say that it is the upgrade from one version of OS X to another is the cause may not be the case as some other thing may have changed on your company network without your knowledge.

My advice is to take this up with your IT department. After all, it is their responsibility to keep these things running smoothly.

I understand and I had a talk with my company's IT department. I"ll again explain my issue. First of all I connect to my company's VPN network using their VPN client and after the connection is established I am using "Microsoft Remote Desktop" client software to connect to my office desktop. But again I would reiterate that all of this worked well with Mountain Lion and when I switched to Mac OS X Mavericks I could connect to my company's network instantly as before but after connecting through the Microsoft Remote Desktop it remains connected for max 5 mins and then it disconnects.

Are you referring its not Mac OS X Mavericks issue at all ?

I'm suggesting that it is possible and should not be discounted.
