Hows it going everyone.
I've been studying java for the last year or so in school towards my CS degree. Unfortunately, Data Structures is the last java course offered, and I'm a mere 3 weeks from completion. I have a basic understanding of GUI Development (Swing), Object Oriented Programming, and efficient data storage. Which direction should I head in next, while learning on my own? All aspects of the language interest me, I'm just not sure the next "step". Should i begin exploring different frameworks?

Edit- Perhaps pursuing a certification would put me in a good learning direction?

Thanks
Mitch

Welcome to the Ranch (if I am not too late).

Database connectivity?
Correctness of programs?
Threading?
Security?

Thanks for the reply, haven't looked into those areas yet. I have them written down on my "to learn list."

Another interesting area is the handling of XML documents using various Java standards and libraries. Parsing of XML documents using DOM, SAX, StAX approaches and binding of XML documents to Java classes using JAXB or external libraries like XStream and Castor are only some examples.
These things are very useful nowadays.
