com.systemsinmotion.orgchart.dao.departmentDAO this class is not being resolved as an import statement so it is flagged as an error. What does that mean and how
one possible way to resolve it?

Welcome to the Ranch

It means the javac tool could not find that .class file. Please tell us where you put it, or where you put the .jar it is in, and what CLASSPATH you are using when you run that app. You need the correct CLASSPATH to that file if the javac tool is to know where it is.
