Hello people,

I have recently decided to give the OCMJEA, part-1 (JEE 5 Most likely) around Feb 2014. I am wondering if there are any people here in the same boat.

I would just like to get to know someone who I can exchange notes with, connect on email etc so that we can track each other's progress.

If this is not the right forum for a post like this, my apologies.

Thank you,

aditya

I deleted a post with an email. Use Purple Moosages for initial contact so it isn't visible in the forum for the world to see and spambots to get your email.

Hello All,

I am a newbie to coderanch. Planning to complete "OCMJEA with Java EE 6" certification.

Have couple questions regarding preparing for the "OCMJEA with Java EE 6" certification

1.May i know how you all started preparing or prepared for Part1 of "OCMJEA with Java EE 6" ..?
I did not find any book that guides with the Exam Topics for "OCMJEA with Java EE 6"

2.Is the "OCMJEA with Java EE 5" book by 'Mark Cade and Humphrey Sheil' a good start for the
'Application Design Concepts and Principles' and 'Common Architectures' topics ..?

Thanks for your time and comments for my request.

Hi Venkata,

Welcome to CodeRanch!

As of now I'm not preparing for this exam (will start after couple of months), but what I've heard so far:
1) Cade & Sheil book is still good for the exam.
2) For other books, you can refer SceaBooks. Since lot of those books focus on architectural concepts, those are still applicable for JEE 6.
3) For parts which are not covered in Cade & Sheil (which are new for JEE 6) - you can refer Java EE 6 tutorial

All the Best!

I am preparing for the exam too.
Read Cade- Sheil chapters once. But I found them as overview and feels like there needs to be lot of reading done for each topic.

Starting to read OReilly Java Security book. But finding all reference to Java 2, wondering if this is right book to read still.

Looking forward to have study buddies to keep me accountable!

Thanks!

Hello,

I am also preparing to take the 1st part of OCMJEA 6 (the exam).

I compiled a huge list of link to notes, mocks, thoughts - mainly from this forum and google ... I passed them. I read the JEE tutorial. I read the Guide.

I also bought ePractizeLabs preparation kit ... it has theory on it ... It has some good questions, but still I can't comment if it is ok for the exam. it is the only available preparation kit for OCMJEA 6, yet. WhizLabs said they will need atleast one month to publish their version, but I just have no time to wait ... It is annoying they keep high price for their OCMJEA 5 , I would have bought that, too.

So, anyone that wishes to contact me - write a PM We will need to help eachother on the parts 2 & 3, too

Good luck !

Yos,
Can you add your mock list to this FAQ page so it helps others? It uses the same username/password as the forum does.
