Okay, I know I am a strange guy, and I am not very sociable, especially in the team at my job, always. But, the last two days my boss is setting my teeth on edge. I wonder if you can understand, perhaps just a little bit. It is close to the holidays, Christmas is coming. And my boss is acting, over acting, and doing that for 9 office hours a day. I am referring to the fact that he plays a sort of role during office hours now. He is overactingly playing the happy jolly boss. He is, for example, coming in at the coffee break and literally shouting through the cantina.

M E R R Y C H R I S T M A S !!!
LOOK AT WHAT I GOT HERE FROM SANTA!!! MORE THINGS FROM THE BAKERY!!!

And I feel more or less obliged to 'happy' play along. Otherwise I am the strange guy again. I think my boss has swallowed too much Prozac or something. I am counting the days off to Christmas at moment! Please cannot I just make computer programs?? I am good at that even…

:-(

No, really I love Christmas, with my friends and family that is..

I think that if your biggest problems are that your boss is too friendly and brings you bakery items that you're pretty well off.

Speaking of jobs and Christmas, I have a different problem. In the 1960s, a singer named Jose Feliciano had a hit song "Feliz Navidad." I am on a discussion board that has many current and former police officers as members, and I noticed that "Feliz Navidad" sounds somewhat like "Police Navidad." So there ought to be a good joke in there somewhere that uses the similarity in the punchline, but I just cannot think of one. If I don't come up with anything soon, I'll have to wait until next year to wish them "Police Navidad."

any ideas?

Maybe something with Police Navy Dad instead? Remember though, jokes based on puns are only funny to the person telling them. (If that.)

I see the war on Christmas has fronts in places besides America. Stay strong, comrade. There will poems sung in our honor one day

I had a similar feeling to Jan's a few years ago. I was sent to Las Vegas for work -- not for a conference, but to visit our company's warehouse there (which was out in an unsalubrious boondock). Anyway when I walked into the lobby of the (rather ordinary) hotel where my reservation was, there were gambling machines with flashing lights and dinging bells there. I had to turn around and go back outside, where I took a deep breath before venturing in again.

Given a choice between slot machines and croissants, I'll take the pastry!

Update: He has now brought in a music player and wants to cheer us up with Christmas songs. Oh, I just love it, debugging with 'dreaming of a white Christmas' sung to me.

It really helps me to concentrate. LOL.

Okay, worse things in the world of course. Ha ha. :-D

Indeed, he could be playing Michael Bolton Christmas songs. Or is he?

So you have a PHB (Pointy haired boss, see dilbert), so who doesn't at some time in their careers. Then, Dilbert says that all bosses are PHB.

I was on a temporary assignment that had me travel to a distant city every Monday morning and came back every Friday evening for two months. It started in early November and went through the New Year. We stayed in a hotel close to the client's worksite, so we could walk to the office. The hotel was in a big American shopping mall. They played cheesy Christmas carols 24 hours a day. Since the hotel was inside the mall, as were the restaurants, bars, etc. We could not get away from it. It drove me crazy and that is why I am the way that I am today

You should try walking around an Australian supermarket with Christmas music coming out of the speakers, and then going outside into 30-degree (Celsius) weather. Rather a surreal experience when you're accustomed to cold-weather Christmas. And the Christmas puddings start showing up about the middle of November in Australia -- I don't know how the Aussies can stand it.

So I left, I came home, and I ate some pie. And then I read this tiny ad:
