I took the OCA yesterday , and passed it with 98% (I got one question wrong , they've told me it was concerning while loops , but they did not tell me what it was).

Here is what I've noticed , in hope it will help future exam takers:

- enthuware tests are the bomb. On the actual exam I got about 5 questions that were identically in those enthuware tests. It is a must to take those , imho.

- the enthuware tests are harder than OCA , although there are a few (about 5) hard questions on the exam

- If you somehow do not know the basics you will fail. The following issue (String s1="a"; String s2 = new String("a"); , is s1 == s2 and s1.equals(s2) ?) appeared on 4 questions in my exam. They tested something else besides that , but if you fail to realize the strings are equal() but not == you fail 4 questions from the start

- there are some ambiguous questions. A lot actually , I estimate about 10. What was extremely helpful for me here were the enthuware tests (especially the final 6th test) with the explanation to some of the ambiguous questions they contain, as those explanations have links to oracle documentations and I have actually read all those links. For example one test question explains the benefits of ArrayList over a standard array and the explanation gives a link to Oracle documentation , etc. Also K&B has special sections (I think they are marked exam watch) where they detail what possible exam questions will ask regarding some ambiguous topic , as an example they say the question "what is the correct code to ..." means what is logically and legally code , not just code that compiles , and so on.

- I've studied using K&B book for java 6 , about 5 questions in my exam were exactly the same as in the examples/test questions as in that book.

- the PearsonVUE software has large fonts , it took my eyes about 10 minutes to get used to it , a bit annoying

- some questions are ridiculously easy (about 10 of them) , but do not get fooled by that. There are not enough for you to pass only on them , and I assume their purpose is to tire you when thinking they have hidden tricks. These (I estimate 10) easy questions also appear later in the test with minor modifications , pay close attention to that. When you see an "easy" question that you met before in the exam , it actually tests something different and has a trick in it. This is a clear sign that it is there to tempt you to make the same decision as before and not notice the trick , at least in most of those "double occurrences" (if not all).

- the completed enthuware tests are to be read just like a book , a lot of questions that you answer correct have very good explanations that give other useful details and links.

Anyway, this is what I remember , hope it helps.

As for my OCP j7 question: where is the thread for OCP , what chapters from K&B 6 can I use (if they did not write another book for j7) ?
