i am using rssutils.jar file for sydicating news feeds to my website. i tooks that from the sun tutorial
http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/javaserverpages/rss_utilities/
Its working fine, the only thing i want to remove the debug messages which gets printed out to the output. is there a way i can remove them since looks like they are slowing the performance.
Thanks
Rashid

Does it use something like log4j to control the logging, or is it System.out.println()?

If its the former, you should be able to control it using an appropriate configuration file.

Not really much to do with JSP per se, so I've moved this along to Other Open Source projects.

hi
i am still having this issue not yet resolved. i tried to unzip the jar file but found no configuration file to set the debugging off. Looks like becoz of the debugging messages the speed is slow. is there anyone who knows how to to block debug messages.
BTW, is there any other utilities which i can use.

Rashid

The software is two years old. It doesn't come with source code or any other offers of support. So your questions about changing it are unfortunately like shouting down a drain.

Your last question "is there any other utilities which i can use" is a good one. The first link returned by Google for the keywords "rss tag library" is this SourceForge site. It's been alpha-level software since 2003 but at least you can get the source code.

Many of the other links (I spent a minute or two looking at them) refer to the article you asked about. One of them says "Some of the other libraries include the aforementioned ROME, RSS4J, and RSSLibJ" and provides links to those things. I didn't follow the links, you can if you want.
