I am wondering if there are any other Google Glass owners on CodeRanch? I've had mine for a few months. Still haven't come to a full blown opinion on their viability once released to the masses.

Well, you seem to use yours a good deal :-) What do you think so far?

How many times did you hear "look at that asshole" while you were wearing them?

I can see some very narrow vertical markets for these, but I don't think they will ever be accepted in public places. At least not for a couple of generations and by that time it won't be glasses, it will be an ocular implant.

I'm still trying to figure that out. LOL. I like them. I have fun with them. I'm not quite seeing the "mass appeal" yet. But they roll out updates every month so they keep adding bells and whistles to the software and the eco system. I think it will just take time. I expect a lot of "glass will fail" blogs and articles. You don't understand them until you use them. There is no other way.

Never.

Well, they are accepted in public places already. I wear them out all the time and no one has ever asked me to leave or take them off. Most people are quite fascinated by them.

It seems your experience was quite different from that of the author who wrote that article. He got tired of being ridiculed. Interesting contrast. He says that even his co-workers at Wired were uncomfortable around him while wearing them.

That author was from Silicon Valley. If I may ask, what part of the world do you hail from? There may be cultural differences at work here.

I've also read of several bars and restaurants that have banned them already. And I don't mind saying that if you started a conversation with me while you were wearing them, I'd ask you to take them off. If you didn't, I'd walk away. They make me very uncomfortable.

Police line, do not cross. Well, this tiny ad can go through:
