Hi Ranchers,

Has someone experienced on taking a training and later credited for OCMJD6, given that someone is still not OCPJP6?

Regards.

I don't have the experience, but I do think that's not a problem at all. As you can also use the same course/training for the OCMJEA certification. Note that Oracle can change the list of approved trainings/courses any time they want, so by the time you take the OCMJD6 exam the course could be removed from the list.

You can always contact Oracle to be completely sure (and don't forget to post their answer here, so other ranchers could benefit from it).

Good luck!

About using the same course for OCMJD and OCMJEA, an user asked this in this thread and the answer is a "no".

At the end, Oracle will only grant you the cert when you have completed all parts. So even if you may have taken and pass the OCMJD part + training but haven't got OCPJP ... then no cert. However, I'm not sure if Oracle allow you to register for OCMJD assignment without OCPJP.

Oops, I have to update my info about the mandatory course In my own defense: a few years ago it was definitely allowed to take 1 course for both certification (clearly proven in this post, see 3rd point).

That's definitely not allowed. You have to be an oracle (or sun) certified programmer, the version (5, 6 or 7) does not matter. From the official OCMJD6 certification page: STEP 1 - PRIOR CERTIFICATION Oracle Certified Professional, Java (SE 5, SE 6,or SE 7) Programmer OR Sun Certified Java Programmer (any edition).

Thanks for the info. Like Roel, I was also under impression that single training can be used for multiple certifications.

To answer Myyron's question (I don't know if it is 100% correct - contacting Oracle is the safest option) - I believe that if the training is already done (even before OCPJP) then also it should be counted for OCMJD(of course, later on, it cannot be used for OCMJEA).

However, I believe Oracle tracks the certification progress based on unique candidate-id and it might not be possible to get OCMJD assignment without first completing OCPJP.

So - bottom line is - OCPJP should (rather must) be completed before downloading assignment of OCMJD.

The mandatory training can be completed anytime - even after the essay exam(I hope this is not changed recently). But final certificate will not be awarded unless ALL parts are completed for OCMJD.

I hope this helps.
