I've just signed up for Programming Mobile Applications for Android Handheld Systems, an online Android programming course. (In fact, I signed up for the Mobile Cloud Computing with Android specialization, which consists of three consecutive courses - this will keep me busy until the summer!).

I've done two Coursera courses before this, about functional programming in Scala and about reactive programming (also in Scala). I liked those a lot, Coursera works great: you get videos with instructors explaining the concepts, and assignments which you have to make and submit, and then there is an automatic system to test your submission, and you get points for your submission. (At least, that's how it worked for the two Scala courses, I don't know yet if it's the same for the Android course).

Until before the course I haven't programmed anything besides a simple Hello World app for Android.

Is anybody else here doing this course?

The course started yesterday, so if you're interested you should be quick.

An intro video about the specialization:
