Hello. I'm a beginer and to get help, I bought a book named "head first Java".
And follow the manual, I downloaded JDK 7 file.
But, I don't know how to use it.
First of all, I even don't know how to open it.
There are some files in 'Java development kit', and the one I can play with is 'Java mission control'.
But it looks strange to me...and it looks it is not the way..
I want to compile files but, I can't find how to open java compiler.
Please help me.

Welcome to JavaRanch.

The JDK does not have GUI tools you can open, it is all done via the command line. If you can't make sense of the book, check out the Oracle Java Tutorial, particularly the trail "Getting Started".

Welcome again

When you installed the JDK, did you change your System PATH? It is very awkward to get the JDK to work if you don't change the System PATH.
We have an FAQ about installing, which also tells you how to run the first program. In the Java Tutorials link which Ulf posted, look for the common problems page. That is a particularly useful part
