Just got Oracle email few minutes back and came to know that I have passed 1z0-897 exam [
Java EE6 Web Service Developer exam]
I am delighted
It has been such a wonderful learning journey.Three months back, I did not knew anything about Java Web Service. Now I have a Oracle Cert to atleast prove that I do have all basic knowledge needed to do any Java Web Service work.
I started off my preparation in Nov 2013. Spent more than 3 months to give exam today.
To start my preparation, I read all success stories on 1z0-897 posted on Javaranch. From there, I came to know about books and materials to follow for preparation.
Materials I used are mentioned below
1.Since I did not knew anything about Web Service, so I started with Java and Web Services Up and Running book (by Martin). Excellent book to read and understand Web Service. Although some stuff was hard to digest at first go like
SOAP Handlers and Security. But I mananged to read whole of the book.
2. I turned to IBM Web Service tutorials.Read whole document.
3. Read MZ notes version 5 and 6
4. Ivan Notes
5. Enthuware
6. EPractice Labs
7. Most important - Wrote numerous practice java code to understand each and every concept.
Enthuware question bank has good practice questions. Thanks Frits for putting up Enthuware exam questions and some nice explanations to all questions.
Epractice Labs question bank is ok and good to revise. But they do have some mistakes.
Coming to mistakes, even, in actual Oracle exam, I noticed some incorrect questions (means Question was incomplete). Due to which i could not derive any answer.
For me, quick wins in exam were questions on
a. REST API
b. MTOM
c. WS Addressing
Time to update signature section in CodeRanch (I always love this moment

)
Now what next -- may be JPA Cert.
Thanks
