We have one web application which is hosted on WPS (webshere portlet server). We have two folder in our application, named as ie & css. (both these folders contain css files for IE and non IE browsers separately)
CSS file location for non IE browser: --\theme\egmk\css\ CSS file location for IE browser: --\egmk\ie\css\
When we access our portal using IE7 browser it picks up all the css files from “\egmk-\ie\css” folder but for IE8 it is picking from “egmk\css” folder which is causing big alignment and look & feel issue in IE8 browser. We are not able to identify the root cause for the issue with IE8 browser.
Below are the CCS files defined under tag of Head.jsp file from where all the css is geting loaded. This is an exsisting file which is working fine for IE 7 & less.
You have conditional comments which check for IE7 and IE6, but none which deal with IE8:
The end result of these is that IE6, 8 and 9 will get the notie7.css file, while IE7 will get ie7.css (and IE10 and 11 will ignore all of the conditional comments unless you trigger compatibility mode). If you want to treat IE8 specially, as you're doing for IE7 and IE6, then you'll need to include IE8 in the condition. As a quick fix you could try something like this:
Then IE8 will also get the ie7.css file while IE6 will still get the notie7.css file. IE9 will get neither of the files, IE10 and 11 will ignore the conditional comments as before.
