Hi

Can any one please suggest, If we have request which hit the server, before it reaches servlet or the response going to send the browsers, through how many components it pass through (or the process flow). Its one of the question being asked by interviewer.

Thanks

There is no standard flow - every implementation will do things differently. And since "component" can have different meanings, the answer is subjective anyway. I suspect this was meant as an open-ended question to get you talking about HTTP and the servlet API, and thus probe your understanding of those topics. http://www.coderanch.com/t/624368/Book-Reviews/Java-Server-Side-Programming-Conceptual is a good book if you want to dig deeper into this.

As I said, what a "component" is in this context is entirely subjective; if you didn't get more detail from the interviewer on what he meant it makes little sense to speculate for us. You might read http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2003/04/23/java_webserver.html and http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2003/05/14/java_webserver.html to learn what the principal tasks are.
