I installe oracle databse 11g. I want now to connect via sql PLUS but no success

here is my TNSNAME.ORA
I wanted to connect like this: user: SYSTEM
password: oracle (this is a password I assigned for SYSTEM and SYS during instalation)
Host string: gaspal-8049e8e4 (Is this a real Host String to use ?)
But no success.

My database is started but I cannot connect. please help.

Did you try the following on the command prompt

sqlplus system/oracle@xe


whats the result you get back ?
