We generally use

http://localhost:8080/mywebapp

for running web applications.

What I want is to access my web app using something like this:

How to achieve this? Actually what i want to ask is that how URL like WWW.example.com is mapped to web applications? Assuming that i am using tomcat server.

localhost is only used during development, not generally.

You need to purchase a domain name, and either host it yourself or have your app hosted on a hosting provider. DNS entries need to be created that point to the hosting servers.

It is not something you configure in your application.
