Hello team
Actually i have WAS 7 Network deployment model. And the node on which i have DM is being patched.
I need to know do we need to apply patch to managed nodes also on which other managed servers are running. And what procedure i should follow for this.
Please reply ASAP.

Thanks

Hi,

WebSphere Application Server consists of core files and user-created profiles (with servers, nodes, DMGRs, etc.)

WebSphere fixpacks are installed for core files. As soon as you installed a fixpack - all nodes will use the updated (core) libraries.

MZ

No, node == profile.

You patch only core WAS files.

I think you should refer some redbooks for WAS 7 - they are free. Otherwise you're risking to break WAS setup.

Oh...sorry .. I am aware that if we are patching WAS on a box then all the profiles(on that BOX) would be using the new patched core files.
My question is now,,, in this set up I have managed nodes which are on different other boxes. now would this set up be OK.. even if I just patch the WAS DM box and not the other boxes where managed node reside. please let me know if I am wrong.

thanks

Ok, seems I understand you know.

The answer to your question is: why you installed fix pack on deployment manager server ?

It's not mandatory to have all managed nodes be running on the same fix pack level as Dmgr.

Moreover, with Dmgr running on WAS 7.0 you can manage Nodes running on WAS 6.1.

MZ
