Scala is entering its 11th year. The TIOBE index places Scala far down at #39, below well-known dinosaurs like Pascal, COBOL, and Assembly and obscure languages like Lua and Ladder Logic. Java, on the other hand, has a huge community of developers and is currently sitting at #2. What are some effective ways the authors have found to convince comfortable Java developers that Scala brings something to the table for them? More importantly, beyond individual developers simply trying it out or hearing some of the benefits, how can you evangelize Scala-usage to entire organizations? Do you know of any programs, movements, networks or the like that are coordinating an effort to evangelize Scala adoption and usage?
