Hi Michael & Josh!

This is a great topic and your book is timely. I did not realize this had a name (SPA). I've been dabbling in it for some time, replacing some of our Java Swing GUIs with browser-based ones and favoring this for new GUI development and playing with node.js server-side.

Being able to do away with FLASH, the powerful 'built-ins', such as WebGL, in HTML5 & modern browsers, will, I believe, make this one of those big game changers that come around only once in a while.

Good luck with your book,

Kevin Ryan

Hi Everyone, Josh Powell here. Thanks for the welcome!

@Kevin Ryan - Glad the book was timely for you, we'd been sweating to get the book out when it did. It was twice as big and took twice as long to write as we originally anticipated. I guess it's like writing code that way Congratulations on playing around with SPAs on your own, doing away with flash is a big win in my mind. I like my web applications to be as simple as possible and flash is yet-another-thing to add on top.

@Bear - Thanks, loved your book! Everyone go buy Bear's "Secrets of the JavaScript Ninja" It's a great read.

By the way, I've granted you three cows. Not for stumping for my book , but for showing up promptly on the first day of the promo and being very active. It's gonna be a great week!

Thanks! I think... I've never been given three cows before. I mean I know what a cow is, mostly, I see them along the side of the road when driving through the country. When should I expect their arrival and how much grass do they eat? Stumping for your book should get at least an extra cow... just sayin'...

I've also given both you and Michael (who I see is also posting) the title of Author.

Cows are badges of honor here at the Ranch, and I've given you both 5 each.
