JAX-RS + Spring?

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
This question may show my "newness" with JAX-RS, but from playing with it for a few days, I'm wondering if integrating it with Spring is necessary? JAX-RS seems to do things automatically, for example, with its various content handlers, that seem so automatic and cool.

There don't seem to be that many resources, if you'll pardon the pun, that go over (or suggest) using both JAX-RS with Spring so I'm wondering if combining both is overkill.

Would look forward to any suggestions.

thanks
mike

Unless you need other features like dependency injection, JDBCTemplate for your SQL, Controller for request handling etc, you don't need to use Spring.
Spring makes a lot of things easy. You can still make it work without using it too.

Thanks for your reply.

Using the @Context annotation, I went ahead and loaded Spring in for, you guessed it, JdbcTemplate.

Thanks again for your note.
