In all my years in development, I only have used Stateless Session Beans for the purpose of transaction management and separation of business logic for distributed computing. Never really understood when to use the others, mainly Entity Beans (cmp and bmp) and Stateful Session beans. When I do research on when to use these other types, all I get are theoretical discussions where I never really understood the real world applications.

Can anyone help me on this? I mean rather than the theoretical definition on it, can anyone give me real world problems and examples where these other type of EJBS (Entity beans and Stateful Sessionn Beans) would be needed? Like for example...if you have an application where the users would like this and that...then use of Entity Beans are recommended.

For starters, forget about entity beans. Those are an EJB 2.x thing. EJB 3.x uses entities - not beans but POJOs that can become managed through an EntityManager.

Thanks but what are some real world application of using Entities ? what are some requirement scenarios that would require the use of those type of EJBs?
