Hi congratulations for the release of your new book.

As there are many new features in Java 8, We may plan to migrate from our project from JAVA 6 to JAVA 8. I just need to ask that will I get the help for the same for migrating and knowing about the new methods (features, classes etc) and obsolete once from the book..??

How fast can we learn the new Syntax from the book (Provided that we know most of the new features till JAVA 7)?

I am also planing to upgrade my OCPJP certification. In near future when Oracle release's OCPJP 8 will this book be helpful and cover all the topics for that certification?

Is there any help available from the author directly for the technical issues which arouse from the book? (If it exist then I am not aware it)

Thank you

Yes, there are many new features in Java 8. It is the single biggest release since Java 1, with more changes than even in Java 5. That's why I wrote the book. It's for someone who is up to speed with Java 6 or Java 7 and wants to know what is new in Java 8, and also what is now thoroughly obsolete (the old date library, Swing, etc.)

Unfortunately, I know nothing about certification. If they ask sensible questions, the book will be useful :-)

Cheers,

Cay

The objectives aren't known yet so nobody can know the answer. I suspect the content will be useful - Cay is good about pointing out edge cases. And if you plan to take the upgrade exam before the actual cert books are out, I bet it is a top resource. Once the actual cert books come out, I think those are better because they provide exam tips and mock exam questions.
