A SOAP WS will return SOAP, there's nothing you can do about that (assuming that the server-side is not under your control).

Depending on which SOAP stack you're using on the client side you should be able to implement some kind of handler or interceptor that retrieves the SOAP response - they you can use any XML API you like to extract and alter the response.

This was the unspoken request to tell us which SOAP API, and which SOAP stack, you're using:
Depending on which SOAP stack you're using on the client side...

The approaches you could take depend on knowing that.

You can extract the portion you need. Check this post.

This was the implicit request to tell us which SOAP stack you're using on the client side. If you're using JAX-WS as the API, read http://www.coderanch.com/t/629552/Web-Services/java/Capture-xml-webservice-entry, which discusses something similar. Once you have extracted the SOAP, you can use any XML library you like to transform it in any way you choose.

You should also tell us what, exactly, you have looked into this past week, what you have so far come up with, and where exactly you're stuck making progress. You seem to be hoping that people here will post a solution to your problem, but that's just not going to happen.
