Hey all.
Being new to this I think a major set back I have is not having enough practice. I am wondering if anyone can point me to somewhere that I can find exercises and problems to solve in Java. Although I have done a lot of reading the past 3 months and I understand the concepts I have yet to put them to use in any meaningful way. And I think a major part of learning is making mistakes and figuring out how to fix them, that's what really sinks things into your brain...
Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Miles,
1) The Cattle Drive exercises are free if you don't want to have your answers nitpicked.
2) The end of chapter exercies in Thinking in Java are good.
3) A university course's intro to Java assignments. Some are online.

If you're not specifically tied to learning Java but are interested in learning how to program in general then there's a 10 week free online course starting in a few days.
Coursera: Programming for Everybody

This particular course works with the Python programming language but the concepts learnt will be just as applicable to Java.

I've taken a different course on this site and found it to be excellent. I expect this one will be of similar quality.

Coding Bat has some good Java coding practice problems. Lots of String and array manipulation.

Also browsing this forum and really trying to solve problems that people post on here is a big help.
