Hi Beth and Eric,

Do you guys think this whole JavaScript language thing is going to get off the ground? Is there a future in JavaScript?

Also, do you guys have any authoring qualifications coming into this book?

Seriously, congrats on creating this fantastic book, and welcome to the ranch!

Bert

p.s. Hey JavaRanchers, I think Beth and Eric are the best computer book authors I know!

Heh. I remember when starting to write the 1st edition of jQuery in Action how I struggled to come up wording refuting JavaScript's reputation as a "toy" language…. my my, how times have changed.

I do still run across people out of touch enough to still regard it as so (like 98% of the Slashdot crowd ), but yeah, JavaScript is certainly coming into its own!

As I opened this thread, I thought Bert's account was hacked! Luckily I kept reading.

Yeah, JavaScript reminds me of my friend's grown up son. The boy is now 21 and his dad still feels one day he will grow up and provides him with all the support with utmost care and dedication. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Greetings,

After all I've seen lately, not only does it seem Javascript has already gotten off the ground, but it seems to have taken flight in a *BIG* way.

Thanks again, Eric and Elisabeth for the new book and spending time with us!

Regards,

B.Katz
