My stint with webservices have been very short. It was limited to added some more attributes [both request and response] to an already existing webservices.
I was using Spring, rest webservices and don't remember adding new attributes to XSD or WSDL. I added then in java code. Since I don't have access to the code and have already left the company, I am not sure what kind of webservices was that.
I guess It was a Spring Rest webservices with code first methodology. I know its a very long shot but would someone be able to tell me if my guess is right.

Also, I now want to learn webservices proper way but am struggling in finding a simple spring rest webservices example that I can analyze to understand how thing works.
Can some one point me to a tutorial or example steps that I can follow to deploy a spring rest webservices and relate to what I did months back and get my understanding clear....

thank you so much

Hard to say - REST does not involve XSD or WSDL, so it seems that you're confusing two different things.

What phrases have you searched for? spring rest webservices example yields some results that look highly relevant.

You are right, I have never been so confused.

Don't we create a design schema in xsd and use a tool to generate java classes?

All example I could find on web have things like maven/pom involved and i loose my track there. we don't have any simple tutorial that focuses on webservices only.

Again, XSD is related to SOAP, where as you specifically mentioned wanting to use REST - which one is it?

Maven is just one tool of many you may want to learn during your developer career, and it has become something of a standard. It is not required to build a project, though - you can use any build tool you like. I briefly looked at a few of the search results - not nearly all of them use Maven, so if you want to avoid it, that should be no problem.

Now I am sure I am wrong and confused at different levels.

Am I interpreting stuff in following wrong? Spring Rest Webservices

The error is in quoting that page as Spring Rest Webservices - it's about SOAP services. If you want to learn about REST, you have to turn to some other tutorial.
