Good day.

I am new on this forum, so if the topic is in the wrong place, please direct me. Or if the question was already asked, please provide me with the link to the discussion.

I am looking for a good preparation material for this exam OCP(1Z0-804).
I was actually searching for this http://www.loot.co.za/product/kathy-sierra-oca-ocp-java-se-7-programmer-i-ii-study/lzbn-1663-ga80 book, for about two weeks now, but didn't succeed.
Heard that oracle tutorials a poor, and some topics aren't mentioned at all.
Did anyone use this book? This what is only available for now - http://www.exclus1ves.co.za/books/Oracle-Certified-Professional-Java-SE7--Author-SG-Ganesh-Author-Tushar-Sharma/000000000100000000001000000000000000000000000009781430247647/
Any advise about the preparation for 1Z0-804 will be appreciated.
Thank's.

Welcome to the Ranch.

We have a dedicated forum for OCP so I'll move this thread there for you.

Welcome again to the Ranch.

The G&S is a fairly good book for the OCPJP7 exam. I used it to passed my upgrade exam.

Are you already a OCAJP7 or obtained SCJP/OCPJP before? For OCPJP7, 2 exams are needed 1) OCAJP7 then 2) OCPJP7. If already certified, only take the upgrade.

Maybe you should check out the exam prep section of the FAQ.

Hi K. Tsang.

I am following a new certification path. I've passed OCAJP7 last week.
Now looking for "All in one" study guide. For OCAJP7 didn't use anything, just took the enthuware tests one week before the exam.
Now viewing topics for OCPJP7 - it needs a bit more studying.
Official oracle tutorial is ok, but still needs additional book, as they don't cover the design patterns and couple of other things.
Is this book only good for the exam?

Congrats on your OCAJP7.

The book I would use it for exam prep. I personally don't find lots of coding examples or end of chapter questions. Yet the coding examples do clearly illustrate the author's point about that topic.

Therefore, apart from the book, practice coding in those exam topics is crucial.

Thanks a lot!
I think, will take this book.
Practice coding is always crucial, taking this exam, I am looking for knowledge, not just a paper.

Make sure to check out the book's website here.

Do check out the Errata and download the quick reference card under resources (for final review)

Good luck.
