Hi all,
I have a web app that consists of jsp pages which contain java code. Everything works fine when i deploy the web app but i learned that such technology is outdated. As i have read in posts, jstl or el are used instead. I am new at these technologies and i do not know the advantages they have over java scripts. Could anyone elaborate on the advantages? Is it necessary that i rewrite my web pages using jstl or el language?

Yes, scriptlets are outdated by about 12 years!

JSTL and EL; not "or". They are used in conjunction with each other.

When you say "java scripts', what do you mean? Java scriptlets in the JSP, or JavaScript in the HTML page? I assume you mean the former.

No. Scriplets are outdated and obsolete. There is no need to waste any time trying to convince you to use modern technology. If you cannot see the advantages of not using techniques and practices that have been obsolete for over 12 years, a forum post is not going to convince you.

Depends. If the application is working and you do not plan to do any major refactoring then why bother?

But if you plan to make many more changes to the application, then it might make sense to go ahead and refactor it before it gets any bigger.

And of course, always use modern technology for any new projects or code.

Yes, you are right. I meant java scriptlets.
