Why do I get “Build Failed” when running my program on Netbeans  RSS feed

I am trying to run my program through netbeans and I get a message:



The corresponding line in the xml document is:


And in the server log there is a long list of comments, the first which looks to be of significance to this issue is:



There are others further down the list which might also be significant such as:



The corresponding line of code for the first warning that I listed is for the DataSource object and I wrote it as follows:


I'm pretty sure the issue has something to do with connecting to the database since it ran fine before I added the database related code.

Any suggestions or leads would be appreciated.

Please post your server.xml file. It will be in %TOMCAT_HOME%/conf/

I don't see anything except the standard entries. Your context.xml file should have an entry something like this:

Then in your server.xml file there will be an entry that matches "something". It will vary depending on what database you are connecting to, but here is a sample for Oracle:

I don't see any Resource entry in your server.xml except for the standard Tomcat users database. I'm not sure what version of Tomcat you are using, but try this page for some help on setting up JNDI.
