Here are my impressions of the 1z1-896 exam which I applied today (very last day of Beta version):

- My perception of the % of question that each topic includes:
05% Section 1: Essentials of JSF2.0
20% Section 2: JSF Navigation Model
20% Section 3: Data Conversion and Validation model
20% Section 4: Event Handling
20% Section 5: Data table and Composite Components
10% Section 6: Custom Components
04% Section 7: Security
01% Section 8: Test, Package, and Deploy a web application

- There are a lot of questions of the type: "What would yo use to implement the solution?", "What is the best choice for this use case?". Thus is very important to have sufficient knowledge of JSF lifecycle.

- I remember a couple of questions of resource bundles, Locale class, context parameters in configure files, navigation rules, AJAX, using a Map in f:selectItems attribute, several questions on facelets templating, and using dataTable or ui:repeat. All of them with code snippets.

- I don't remember any question about identifying the advantages of CDI Named beans over Managed Beans.

The following are the same impressions of the people who did the exam earlier than me:
- I prepared myself reading both materials: Core JSF book and Online Java EE 6 tutorial, but in my opinion is not enough to pass the exam, I would really think a simulator or a mocked exam is totally necessary...
- Answer 130 questions in 3 hours is very tough, specially because 90% of the questions are code snippets, so it takes you a long of time to read them all and try to answer correctly.
- Althoug Oracle indicates that your results will be send 11 weeks after the close of Beta Exam, the first screen indicates that you'll receive your results in 8 weeks.
- I remember just 1 question about HTML5 and was about how to configure it in JSF.

Hope it was useful.

Thanks

Hi Luis,

Thanks for your feedback, I will pass the exam this week, So is there any other tips ?

And also, could you compare the level of defficulty in the exam questions with JSF questions in coderanch or stackoverflow?

Thanks in advance
