I recently started a short course which is teaching me about using Java ME 8 to programming embedded systems. (For the course we use the Raspberry Pi) I find it is extremely interesting as my instructor told me when I studied Java the the ME platform was essentially dead with the move to Android but now I see it very relevant and very alive.
Yet outside the course community there doesnt seem to be many other large following for Java MEEP, so is anyone here using it? I'd love to see what people are doing with it beyond where I am now.
JME was dead for most practical purposes. JME 8 is the first significant development in about 10 years, but it's way too early to tell whether it will amount to anything. If you're looking for advice on which to base decisions of any importance (like your career), mine would be: don't bet on it.
No not as a career. For that I work in Android development :-/ I meant from a hobbyists perspective I just wanted to see what other people were doing with it. Tbh what I have been learning to do with it so far will no way replace the way regular embedded systems nowadays work.
