Hi All, i got an offer to work with one multinational company which is leading data protection company and they offered me to work on security domain. Specifically they have their own APIs like sun JCE
and provide services to other. I was told that i need to design this APIs , testing and develop code which interacts with their device....

I do not have any idea about this field. Could any one suggest, how is this field as a career?

Security is a promising domain. It is highly unlikely to shrink.

The proprietary part isn't going to be used anywhere else though. You have to balance the exposure to security concepts with the part that is only used at that company.

Sure. When you work with a proprietary technology, you learn two sets of things:
1) How that specific technology works. This isn't going to be useful outside the one company that uses it.
2) General concepts that apply everywhere. Since this a security company, you will probably learn a lot of details about encryption, etc. This knowledge will help you in the future.

The balance concept comes to risk. Will you learn enough in the second category to be worth it.

Yeah, it is little bit riskier to work on such cases.. Actually, the problem is, this is only company that deals in this area in my and nearby city...
So, i am wondering if i get into this then i can not leave it in future because i cannot leave my city due to family issue. Let's see, i am searching
another job as well like in banking/finance domain.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
