Hi. There's a game where it requires connecting to an ad service before the game can actually begin. That ad service shut down, so the game does not start anymore. I'm trying to remove any links in the code to the ad service so that the game will start, so I can play it. It's a great game. I already have a small head-start, but am a complete newbie at java language. I see that some of the .jar file's classes are pointing to other classes that are responsible for the ad messages upon starting the game. The thing is, I don't know how to remove the association. NOTE: Since the ad company AND the game's company shut down, THE GAME IS FREE TO USE. I can provide the game file if needed.

Any help is appreciated.

That is probably a wrong, even if the legal owner doesn't use it or is not obvious it doesn't mean that he is non-existent. But that is not for us to judge here.

Do you have the source code?
