hello,

We need to inform the operations department (via email ) when something happens to this process continuously running in a server. This process that is running is a java executable that does quite a lot of tasks.

My question is, whats the best way to do this? it would be kinda redundant creating another java executable running just to monitor if that particular executable is running. If thats the case, there would be a never ending case of
who will monitor this executable that monitors that executable that monitors this executable and so on......

This is in Windows server 2008 by the way.

Any advice would be appreciated. thanks a lot.

regards,
Andres

A service like Java-monitor.com can help with that, depending on how deep the monitoring should go. There's a wide range of tools and services you could use, depending on your exact requirements.

Thanks for the reco. Will check java-monitor.com.
