It seems like we could use some positive news lately. Ok, well maybe this isn't positive, but SpiderMan getting arrested is kinda funny. Or sad.

In my opinion, they should crack down on copyright at Times Square. This would get rid of Spiderman, Sponge Bob, Elmo, the Minions... Heck, it would probably get rid of everyone -- except for the Naked Cowboy.

Funny you should mention that. Today's AmNY editorial on the topic had the statement

First the city should register masked street artists with visible IDS, so when a costumed perp flees, the cops know whom to find. IDs would also give companies holding the rights to these characters a way to keep bad actors out to their costumes.



These guys aren't using the official costumes. They are using similar looking (or not so similar looking) ones in most cases. Still a copyright issue, but hardly the company's official costume.
