Howdy folks,

Welcome to the Bunkhouse Lounge! This is where we come to talk about our favourite books, discuss what we like, don’t like, don’t understand, anything at all. There’s enough room for everyone so drop in and make yourself comfortable.

For the Month of August we are inviting you to read Joshua Bloch’s “Effective Java” with us. Grab yourself a copy and let the discussions begin!

Thank you for the work you put into setting up the book readings, Tim

I already have a copy because I reviewed it when it first came out. Scroll down below the reviews for Effective XML.

Now that Java8 is out and there are new features, do we think Bloch ought to write a 3rd edition or leave the new features to people like Horstmann? You will find several discussions of Java8 books in the Java8 forum.

Hello

I bought that book months ago and must admit that the content is very good explained.
I'm very happy with it and recommend that book to everyone who wants to have a
deeper understanding how to write structured code.

Interesting coincidence. My manager picked that book for our team to study. So far most of it is helpful and at least thought provoking. Do have to wonder what should be changed especially in the examples due to Java 8.

All that thinking. Doesn't it hurt? What do you think about this tiny ad?
