Using ComboBoxTableCell with custom class

I have a problem using ComboBoxTableCells with custom classes in my code. The table/table column definitions:

I setup a Facade class to avoid troubles when ComboBoxTableCell calls toString to make the text readable instead of showing a standard string output of the whole class.

I assign a ObservableList like this to the table and setup the cell factories like this:

Now my problem is that:

1. the data for the metadataColumn is shown as a huge string showing
the contents of the class, whereas the data for geometryColumn are
shown in a human readable way
2. the observable list is not updated

Any hints, ideas, suggestions, ... are highly appreciated!
