Hey guys,

I've been looking for a method to continue my Java education journey whilst I'm on holiday, well, visiting family abroad... and I came across AIDE (from the Android store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aide.ui&hl=en_GB).

I've tried it out and I like it, it also focuses on Android app development which does interest me, so this could be a nice tool to use.

The only problem is that the IDE is subscription based, £20 a year, which is more than I'm comfortable with (I hate subscriptions!).

Does anyone use it and is it good? What alternatives would you suggest?

Thanks!

There is always the ADT bundle plug-in for Eclipse. Or if you prefer a stand-alone IDE, there is the pre-configured Eclipse ADT/Android SDK bundled IDE.

http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

It's available for Linux/Mac/Windows.
