There doesn't appear to be a lot of documentation on openFd. In Eclipse there is no pop-up when choosing methods from the results from proposed methods. Javadoc is not very informative. Although it appears to be significant on 'opening' (open) a 'file' (F), it seems to provide a ParcelFileDescriptor that seems to describe the file (in my case a short audio file) for execution (SoundPool.load() and SoundPool.play()), like so:
{ParcelFileDescriptor: File Descriptor[51]} start=436528 len=11197
Also, does anyone know why 'openFd' was used as a name for this? openFd = Open File Description?

Thanks

I think it stands for "open file descriptor" in the context of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_descriptor
