Hello,

I am a SCJP(1.4) and have the following queries related to further certification.

a) Thinking to take up OCPJWCD(Jee6) or OCPJBCD(jee6). Can I do it? or Do I need to Upgrade to OCPJP later versions? If so, which version shall I take up( at the minimum) to qualify for the WCD and BCD certifications?

b) when looked into 'Java EE 6 Enterprise Architect Certified Master | 1Z0-807' ( oracle site), though the professional and Master tabs have different steps for the certification. But,both mention 'Java EE 5 Enterprise Architect Certified Master 1Z0-864' certification. I am afraid, missing something or do we not have jee6 certification for Architect?

Thanks for your time and help

Raju

Welcome Raju

1/ Given you already have SCJP1.4, you can take any of the Java EE developer certs (WCD,BCD etc).

2/ The EA v5 and v6 are different tracks. Both requires the same number of steps (MC exam -> assignment -> essay exam + mandatory training).
The only difference is the MC exam (part 1). For v6 the exam code is 1Z0-807 while v5 is 1Z0-864. The codes for assignment and essay are the same because candidates can do the assignment in either version.

Thanks Tsang,

Seems the Mandatory training goes with step1 for the Architect( both for jee5/v5 and jee6/v6).

Can you please help me with the following?

a) For v6 -

Is it really mandatory to take up first the Mandatory training and followed by any of SCWCD/OCPJWCD , SCBCD/OCPJBCD exams or
just a training for them to get into the next step ( referring to following link)

https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=653&get_params=p_id:212#tabs-2-2

b) For v5 -
It has step1( with mandatory training) or step2. What exactly does the step2 is referring to( from the following link) ?

https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=653&get_params=p_id:164#tabs-2-1

Just trying to understand the path to Architect certification and the exams that need to be taken in this path.

Thanks for your time and help.

Regards
Raju

The Java EE developer certs don't need mandatory training, only the Architect cert requires it.

Also the Architect cert does not any pre-requisites like JP or any of Java EE developer certs.

About that, you can do the training at any time (before, during or after). After you done the training, you would get a "course attendance/completion" paper then you need to fill in a online form stating you have attended what course blablabla so that Oracle can verified it. With this form submission, you wouldn't able to "complete" the track hence Oracle won't give you the Architect cert.

The list of approved courses are listed in http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=245

For Architect v5, the page you mentioned step 2 are old archived courses that are not offered anymore yet if people done those in the past would be eligible for this meeting the mandatory training.

Those tabbed pages seem to make the steps hard to follow sometimes. The meat of the Architect exam is the MC exam -> assignment -> essay.
