web services up and running by Martin Kalin has few sections for amazon web services.

Do we need to practice them for certification.

The certification is not about specific existing WS (much less 3rd party WS Oracle doesn't control).

You don't need to spend time on those Amazon web service or Yahoo web service examples in chapter 1 or 2 of the 1st edition of this book. Some examples may not work as the Amazon/Yahoo API have changed a lot recently and take you some time to figure out.
All you need to know is to distinguish the difference between RPC/DOC, wrapped/unwrapped style and etc for that chapter.
