Hi,
I am a Spring/Java developer - I know Java pretty well...
I would love to learn Android development...
The "do it yourself - solve problems" approach works for me ;-)

Does the book walk the reader through a case study - so the app gets realized piece by piece?

A bit of working code (and then some more) - which I can try out myself (on my ubuntu box)
would be great!

--- regards atul

Hi Atul,

Appendix C "Getting Started with Android" provides three example Android apps, beginning with a "Hello, World" app, which demonstrates various logging APIs, and culminating in a planets apps with images, text, and layouts. For each app, I explain the app's code (and resources) and show how to build the app using command-line tools or Eclipse -- I introduce Eclipse (and Android) in Chapter 1.

You can obtain a free copy of the 96-page Appendix C PDF file by pointing your browser to http://www.apress.com/9781430264545, clicking the Source Code/Downloads tab, and clicking the Download Now link.

All the best.

Jeff
