I am interested in learning about Android App development but my background is in the C languages (C, C++, C#). Should I pick up a Java book before reading your book or will your book help me to bridge the gap between the languages?
My book teaches the Java language and various APIs (e.g., Collections Framework and String/StringBuffer) that are useful in Android app development. The book is focused on teaching Java, although there is an introduction to Android in Chapter 1 and a thorough introduction to Android app development in Appendix C (distributed separately as a PDF file in the book's code file -- see http://www.apress.com/9781430264545 -- you can freely download the code file with the appendix). In short, you don't need to pick up a Java book before reading my book.
All the best.
