Hello all

How to learn design patterns not specifically for passing exams? The thing I just don't feel comfortable during my learning so far is that given a UML diagram or code snippet, I can't identify what pattern it's using or vice versa.

However, I can identify what patterns to use given a scenario most of the time.

Any advice is welcomed.

That's good because identifying a pattern from UML or code isn't on the exam . Recognizing what pattern to use in a certain situation is on the exam.

A good book to learn a little bit about design patterns is Refactoring to Patterns, because you will see great examples where use them and how do it...

And in the exam is good you learn about java ee patterns, because you are going to make sure that non functional requirement can be reached and they will help you with that.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
