Hey EveryOne,

I am planning to give OCPJP for java 6 in couple of months.

Little about me I am a php developer and always want to move to Java since my college days but due to some sort of lack of knowledge I was unable to get the job.

Now I want to go for it and want to know will it be a plus point on my CV to have OCPJP

Having certification is good point to show in CV but it has to be backed up by some actual java experience, good practical knowledge of java is also expected.
Also, if possible, go for latest java version certification [ java 8 , not java 6]

There is no Java 8 certification book released as yet.
But we do have Java 7 Programmer I certification book written by Mala Gupta [ publisher is Manning]. Great book. Must read if you want to give certification exam.
Exams topics of Java 8 and Java 7 are almost same. Just Lambda and Data Time API included. So Java 7 book is good enough to study for Java 8 certification. Just learn extra java 8 topics from oracle tutorials.

I also suggest you go for Java 7 exams rather than v6.

In the real world, having a cert doesn't mean much without the experience. While you prepare you should write a lot of small programs to reinforce your reading/learning.
