Suppose we have Table/Entity CHILD with columns

Table/Entity PARENT
With a @OneToMany relationship between Parent and Child mapped by family_id.

Anyways, my question dealt with @DiscriminatorFormula. I am using a Single_Table inheritance strategy for the Child table. However, to discriminate between 2 childs, I need a value from the parent column.
Namely, is it possible to have a @DiscriminatorFormula that says something like: "if child_id == first_child_id THEN ....." and so on? I want one type of Child class to be the FirstChildClass, and the rest to be otherChildClasses.
But I can only differentiate between the 2 from the value in the PARENT table.

Anyone know if this is possible? Or know if this is not possible?
