Is there any book or something that explains available java built-in classes , what their methods do and some short examples about them?
I can not find any and this is really weird since java is really old unlike some other languages that has such thing

Please help.

The API documentation most of the time does a pretty decent job of explaining the purpose of various the packages and classes therein. In some cases the documentation even contains example code. Besides the API documentation there are the Java tutorials over at Oracle. Finally, Oracle offers some demos and samples as a seperate download. Other than those official resources there is ofcourse our very own JavaRanch Java FAQ, and some useful journals as well. You can also check our Bunkhouse for tips on all sorts of books.

See if this site is what you are looking for. Although it lacks explanations, the code examples are very handy. And this page provides a good explanation of how to read and understand the api docs.

Welcome to the Ranch

I presume you are familiar with the API documentation?
Have you found our books pages?
