Hi,

I want a java program to get the contents from the weblink i.e., if a new user sign up for a web page, and store that one. Please help me to write this java program in eclipse using tomcat, restlet and json.

Thanks,
Geetha

Welcome to the Ranch.

I think you need to break this down a lot further before we can help, Are you asking about how to use Eclipse? Or how to design this functionality? Or how to implement it? Or are you asking for help with the Restlet library? Each of these is big enough for a lengthy blog post, so tell us what you have so far, and where, specifically, you're stuck making progress.

Also clarify what "to get the contents from the weblink and store it" means, exactly.

Sure. I am a newbie to eclipse and all these technologies. So i am started to learn these things.

Now, I want to write a java program i.e., dynamic web application in eclipse using the apache tomcat. This is my condition that, a new user of a particular web page tries to register with that web page. Here user will enter his details such as name, mobile number etc., Now, as a programmer I want to write a program using restlet and json, to retrieve those details from that particular link. What can I do for that?

First off, if you have Eclipse-specific questions, those are best asked in the IDEs, Version Control and other tools forum, so let's ignore those here.

As to the rest, I'm not sure how to respond to "What can I do for that?" The glib answer (which is not meant seriously) would be "Implement it." :-)

If you have not yet used servlet technology and Tomcat, then get up to speed with that. If you have not yet implemented a REST WS running in Tomcat, get up to speed with that. If you have not yet written a Java client that accesses a REST WS, get up to speed with that. Once you know these parts individually, you can put them together. But as posed the question asks stuff that may take months to learn, so there's no good way to put all that into a forum post.

But I'm still unclear about whether you talk about web pages or a web service. Since you mentioned Restlet and JSON I assume the latter, but then where does "that particular linK" fit in? A REST WS is something different than a web page. Or do you mean that you want to create a web page where a user can enter that data, which is then stored in a DB, and then you also want to implement the REST WS that allows a client to retrieve that data?
