Hello to all,

I am reading book for above exam written by Mala Gupta (OCA Java SE 7 Programmer I Certification Guide). There are some changes with no. of questions and passing score. As per new updates No. of Questions are 70 (must solve in 120 mins) and passing score is 63%. I want to know which site provides good mock tests and are those updated with new criteria.

Also want to know the procedure for gaining the certificate (apart from study preparation) like voucher procedure , whether need to create new account on Oracle/Pearson VUE and also on CertView.

Little bit confused about how the passing score is evaluated. Are there any negative (-ve) marking? Also if there are more than 1 correct answers then how marks are distributed. If I mark 1 correct and 1 wrong answer for a question having 2 correct options, then how score is calculated. Does they provide no. of correct answers for each question? (any good blog/site provides answers for all these, also nature of questions and GUI of the exam)

Thank you,

Hi Suhas Doijad,

Are there any negative (-ve) marking?

No! So you can guess for free

Also if there are more than 1 correct answers then how marks are distributed. If I mark 1 correct and 1 wrong answer for a question having 2 correct options, then how score is calculated.

If you have selected all correct options, you get 1 point for this question. In all other situations, you'll get 0.

Does they provide no. of correct answers for each question?

Yes! Every question mentions the number of correct answers to select.

I want to know which site provides good mock tests and are those updated with new criteria.

I guess Enthuware is by far the best site. It offers great value for money. WhizLabs is another one, but ranchers seem to prefer Enthuware (based on reviews/experiences).

Also want to know the procedure for gaining the certificate (apart from study preparation) like voucher procedure , whether need to create new account on Oracle/Pearson VUE and also on CertView.

This site is a good starting point to know everything about registering for the exam.

Hope it helps!
Kind regards,
Roel

Do Enthuware updated their database with respect to new passing score (63%) and no. of questions change (changed to 70) done by Oracle.? Is JA+ V7 For OCA-JP-I SE7 this updated?

Does this book OCAJP Oracle Certified Associate Java SE 7 Programmer Practice Exams by Hanumant Deshmukh Book GOOD..??

I think Enthuware updated their mock exams accordingly. In fact, I would be very surprised (and even a little bit shocked) if they didn't.

From the Amazon page of the book: IMPORTANT: This is an eBook version of Enthuware's simulator JA+ V7 for OCA-JP 7 Certification. It contains the same questions as the simulator. If you are not comfortable with the formatting of this eBook, you may want to try the software version from Enthuware.com, which is available for the same price and is updated automatically on a regular basis.

as for me pc version of Enthuware is more comfort.
Duration of test is 120 m and 70 question.
after test you get total score and you get score grouped in by topic of exam
for example result of my test

I got the book OCAJP Oracle Certified Associate Java SE 7 Programmer Practice Exams by Hanumant Deshmukh from my friend. But it contains 90 questions per Test (1-5 Standard Tests and Last Day test) along with Objective -wise questions (more than 450+ total questions). Also passing criteria they mention is 77% (changed from 75% to 77%). I guess this is for old pattern of the same test OCAJP 7. I want to know is that does Enthuware changes their Question Database after this book? Or that book , even if it contains 90 questions per test , is still best to read it.

Thank you,

Answer what is better depend of how you want use question:
pc version has same number, same duration, some time it updates to be closer to real exam, also there is no need count right answers, and after test you get you scores.
book still has good question and you may go through it with old format (90 question) and still find your weakness.
i try starter test from book and after order pc version and i think this was good product for my money.
Real exam cost much up than mock test.

Yes, it is!

I would definitely opt for the pc version of Enthuware for 2 reasons:
  • it will be more up-to-date than the book, because it's easier to maintain and add/update/delete questions to a software product than a book (which is just printed once)
  • it has excellent value for money (you get 500+ questions with detailed explanations for 10$)

  • Hope it helps!

    Thank you,

You have an old version of the book. We have already updated the book to account for the recent changes in the exam on Amazon. We try to keep the book in synch with the s/w version as much as possible. However, since the updates are pushed to the readers by Amazon, we cannot control when a reader will get the updates. The s/w version is kept up to date and the update notification goes out to the s/w immediately after any important change.

BTW, did your friend loan the book to you? I am curious to know because I am wondering why his version was not updated by Amazon automatically. Any idea when he purchased it?

Is buying Enthuware simulator after buying and reading Hanumanth Deshmukh's book is of no use? Is the questions in the simulator are the same as that of Deshmukh's book?

@Roel, Exactly after seeing this post itself, I got this doubt. Is the Enthuware simulator has the same questions as that of Hanumanth Deshmukh's book? Is it not useful or meaningful having them both at the same time?

Based on the above post of Paul Anilprem I would say it is not useful to have/use them both. If you have the choice, I would opt for the software because important changes will be updated immediately.

@Roel, I have updated version of this book, and have tried every test within the book. Still I am not sure whether to go ahead with the software or not? I mean to say if I want to check my performance against time, and wanting to try a software but if I am already aware of the answers to the questions, then I will not be doing justice to my practice. I hope you know what I mean.

As the book and the software contain the same questions, no benefit of purchasing/using the software.
