Enthuware Leitner mode

Enthuware test has mode that you may want to use.
This is Leitner mode.
When you pass tests from 1-6. You can use this mode
you can learn question that you fail before or most missed questions.
don`t use it if you not don`t ever pass regular test.
and you must uncheck include last day test if you have no pass it before.
also after pass last day i find that there is question that there is unlearned and there is no mark that it was mistaken, so i assume that you can find little more question
I think it is very useful feature

I can see when this is useful, but as you mentioned: ONLY under specific conditions. Not as another test to check your progress/level, because your score will probably be not representable. You'll probably answer questions correctly by memorization instead of knowledge.

I would even suggest to only use it 1 or 2 days before you take the actual exam (as a part of your final preparation). So you'll get a (quick) review of the questions you missed (the most). In this case it will be a great feature to remind you of your common mistakes and emphasize aspects you definitely need to watch out for when taking the exam In all other cases, I won't use this feature.

I started using this mode yesterday and I really like it a lot for the specific purpose of review and for focusing on areas where I need the most practice. I have completed Standard Tests 1 - 5 (including Starter Test). I have read two books (each twice) and I started noticing that I was missing most questions during practice exams not due to lack of understanding the concept being tested but due to other reasons such as computational error in loops or just not noticing the problem with the code. Once I saw the answer during review of the test I understood why I missed the question - it wasn't as if I was just learning about rule/concept for the first time. Even so, my scores are not that great. My last two practice exam scores were right around 70%. It seemed to me that I needed more practice with the exam questions. And, I had some glaring weaknesses with certain questions given my results. So I tried Leitner mode yesterday and I found it to be very helpful.

Practicing with a full exam is an incredibly worthwhile endeavor. Learning how to take these timed exams is a skill in and of itself. But it also takes about two hours and it is a bear to review all of those questions afterward. For me this whole process takes about six-eight hours per practice test. Again, it is useful. But at this stage I felt like I need more focused practice. So Leitner mode has been great.

Thanks for the tip about un-checking the "Include Questions From Last Day Test" option. It seems that your viewer may be different than mine as I'm not finding the option just yet. I'll check into that, but I am taking my exam tomorrow. Unfortunately I have an imposed deadline and I completely under estimated the time it would take to prepare for this exam. If I had my choice I would continue to study until scores improved on practice exams.

Thanks,
Doug

Okay, I found the option to exclude questions from Last Day Test. Open Leitner Mode -> Click "Start Learning" and follow the dialogue.

Previously I had navigated directly to unlearned questions in the "Leitner View" tab. You do not see this option when accessing the questions that way.

Thanks,
Doug

Good luck!

Some last-minute advice: keep calm and check the correct answers!

I thought Leitner mode was good for learning Java. If you miss a question it goes all the way back to level 0 and you must answer it right N times to get it back in level N. I had all the questions in the last two levels at one point. Very time consuming.

Yes, you memorize a lot if not most of the answers, but there's nothing wrong with that as long as you understand the answer. Remember this mode is for learning, not for test practice. There's nothing wrong with memorizing your multiplication tables by repetition, for example.

However it kills the usefulness of the package as test practice because the same questions are used. Adding exclude last day test was a happy medium. Best would be two separate products.

Thank you all for posting your thoughts on this feature. Let me add some of mine
This feature came about because of valuable feedback from a customer Kai Witte who tried to simulate this mode using comments. So thanks to him again As we soon realized, this feature is incredibly useful for people who do not have full 2 hours to spare for a standard test. It allows you to keep attempting questions for as long as you have. So if you have only 2o mins of free time, just set the timer to 20 mins and you don't have to worry about the number of questions.

In the "Focus On" drop down, there is an option named "Questions Never Answered Correctly". This option will throw you only those questions that were never answered correctly. So if you answered a question correctly at some point of time, you don't need to worry about it going back to level 0.

You are right. Some users complained that they tried this mode and then didn't get new questions in the standard tests. That is why now the mode displays a clear warning about this and also lets you exclude questions from the Last day test (if available in the question bank) so that you have at least one unseen test left. Two separate products will not help because, after all, the issue is not with the s/w feature but with the number of questions available in the question bank. You can either attempt those in the Standard Test mode or learn using Leitner mode.

You are absolutely correct. This is the best way to use it unless you are completely going the leitner way and don't care about test score.

Overall, we have tried to make it very flexible. It is possible that one particular way might be completely useless for one user but very useful for another. But I am sure both users will find at least one way that suites their requirement.

Paul.

True! That's why the Enthuware mock exam simulator gets what it deserves: always 4- or 5-star reviews I still have to encounter the 1st negative experience with this simulator. Keep up the excellent work!
